Image of the Month | August 2008
The image posted here each month is normally a new addition to the site. It hasn't always happened on time, unfortunately, but since The Big Redesign in mid 2007 I've been trying hard to do the update in the first couple of days of each month. Earlier IOTMs are moved into the growing Image of the Month Archive, which is now spread over several pages.
Highly Strung
Leaving

Leaving. The wonderfully restored St Pancras International station in London – built originally by William Henry Barlow in 1868 – with Paul Day's new statue The Meeting Place. On one of several brief visits to the station since it reopened in November 2007 I had the Nikon D300 and 12-24mm lens with me as I 'wasted' half an hour while waiting for my train from neighbouring Kings Cross station.

Perhaps because I have departure on my mind – St Pancras will soon be the starting point for my first Eurostar trip, and the beginning of a long rail journey (watch this space!) – I had more a feeling of leaving than of meeting. Luckily I caught a passing commuter as he walked away out of the picture, to make the point and give the statue some scale.

Technical: Nikon D300, 12-24 lens @ 14mm, 1/125sec at f/5.6, ISO400, Active D-Lighting
